It is with great pleasure that I introduce a contribution from poet CAConrad for this edition of The Yellow Paper. CAConrad is a terrific poet, and it was a sheer joy to meet them in person. On the 11th March 2023, in conjunction with the Art Writing exhibition, Boys with Books, CAConrad delivered a full length reading of The Book of Frank to celebrate its 30th anniversary, accompanied by an in-conversation led by Mason Leaver-Yap. This event launched nine readings by the ritualist, poet and activist and we were lucky to be the first ones to witness the birth, life, and afterlife of Frank.
Each chapter was punctuated with a spectacular puff of bubbles which would spread out across the room. Guests were invited to take away a copy of the following poems, arranged and printed as risographs on recycled paper. As you will see, the poems are art objects and talismans. Yet they remain deeply personal. I find myself sitting here, surrounded by my copies of I Prefer the Forests Making Blankets from Themselves, Bathe the Door with Blood of the Centaur, While Standing in Line for Death, and Amanda Paradise: Resurrect Extinct Vibration becoming increasingly distracted by the textures of the paper and the instantly recognisable wisps of language they hold. As such, I will leave you with this.
